Corn Man

Swinging Together

Sliding Together

Hair Flying

So cute in the swing

Today was a beautiful day. Oliver had so much fun with his Auntie and Grandma again. He got to go to the park with Aunt Katy and Daddy, they rode the bikes! Oliver had fun playing at the park!

For dinner, Grandma gave him his first corn on the cob, he loved holding it like a big boy. At the dinner table, he was making lots of funny noises. The best of all was when he said "Da Da" very distinctly when looking at Daddy and when he was prompted. Even better, Grandma Michele got it on video, yea!!!

Oliver is an amazing, little bundle of energy!

Toys

Pushing the "puppy" stroller at Fred Meyer.

Rough Housing with Daddy.

Getting some cuddle time with Aunt Katy.

Playing with a cord and making a cute face.

Slide at Chuckee Cheese.

At the mall playground with Grandma.

Reading with Grandma. As happy as can be...

Today Oliver's Grandma spoiled him with love and toys. She took him shopping and bought him some toys (he loves the parachute and the tunnel Grandma!). Oliver went to the mall and played on the playground, he was all over the place. Then he played at Chuckee Cheeses on a few rides! He was running all over the place, so excited.
In the evening Oliver got to roughhouse with his daddy, cuddle with his Aunt Katy, and make everyone laugh. Oh, what adventures will we go on this weekend?

Grandma and Aunt Katy

Oliver had an awesome day. He got to pick up his Aunt Katy and Grandma Michele from the Casino where they took the airport shuttle. He played all the way home in the car with them and even more when he got home. He showed them all of his tricks! Aunt Katy fed him dinner, and they both changed a couple of his diapers. After dinner we went for a walk and Aunt Katy wore him and gave him lots of love! Daddy came home late from work and made Oliver laugh and laugh....

School Baby

Today Oliver came to my classroom after school. We attempted to go to a baby shower in the library, but Oliver was everywhere, under tables, in between book cases, etc. so I decided to take him home. Before we left he walked towards the gym. He walked around and discovered the custodians brooms. Oliver loves to sweep, and that is exactly what he did!!! I'm so glad he is learning to clean at such a young age.

Diaper Boy Playing

Oliver had a fantastic day! He hung out with his friends while Mommy and Daddy worked, and he loves to play. He got to play so much today. We took a little video of him to show him in action. It may not look like he is doing much with his car, but he can manuever it to where he wants it to go. He also likes to stash stuff in the seat.

Monday

Today was relaxing. Oliver helped mommy go grocery shopping and running. He went for a car ride with Mommy and Daddy, and he had a good nap in his car seat! When we got home Oliver ate dinner and took a bath. After his bath he went for a bike ride with Daddy. Please note: Oliver's bug pajamas and his fuzzy red hair- picture was taken soon after his bath.
We all had a good day together!

Busy Day

Chillin in his Highchair

Happy at the Street Fair

We had a great Sunday! Oliver, Ranger, and I went running in the beautiful sun again! We had fun, Ranger saw a few dogs but was very well behaved! When we got back we went to the Fairhaven/Bellingham Street Fair and saw the kayakers coming in from the Ski to Sea Race that started at Mt. Baker. Oliver had fun looking at people, dogs, singers, and more. We took a break from the sun, and ate at our favorite bread shop, look at how cool Oliver looks in his high chair. As we were walking up the street, I snapped the cute picture of him looking at me!

When we got home, my friend Karin invited us to go swimming at a high school pool. We met her and her daughters, Avery and McKenna. It was Oliver's first time in a pool! He had so much fun, he really liked it. At first his little lips were quivering, but he got used to the water and the temperature. The pics show him in the little floater they have (that is Karin with him in the big pool) and him by himself (and with me) in the shallow pool! There is also a picture of him in the big pool looking happy! He is a water baby!

Today we had a relaxing day. It was sunny, warm, and beautiful out! Oliver, Ranger and I went for a nice 4 mile run in the morning and then came home and did a little cleaning. (Mike went on a nice hike in the Cascades with a friend. ) Oliver loves to help me sweep the kitchen floor. He has been helping for a few months now, but he is finally able to stand and sweep himself. As you can see, I couldn't decide which picture to put so I put three of them. I like the smiling picture, this shows how he is so proud of himself (and how much he loves his mama who is taking the picture). The other two are action pictures that show how he moves his arms. He is just the funniest baby ever.

Driving Baby

Oliver had a good day with daddy. They were both happy to see mommy when she came home from school. Oliver and I went for an evening walk around the block after dinner tonite. We had to get the ergo carrier from the car, and when we did, Oliver decided he wanted to do some driving. So I let him of course! He held onto the steering wheel and swayed side to side with the wheel! Then he figured out how to turn the brights on and watched the lights shine in the garage. I said Off and On at the appropriate moments. He is pretty savvy with all kinds of lights already!
On our walk he saw a lot of dogs, a volleyball game in play, and a big army helicopter (he was fascinated by that!). Now he is sleeping beside me, probably dreaming of some adventure he is going to take someday.

Ollie

Oliver had a really good day. He met mommy in her classroom after school and walked around, finding a basketball that he was trying to pick up! WOW!

We all went to a BBQ at the Skagit RiverFront Park in Sedro-Woolley. Mike's work (Skagit Fisheries) put it together to honor some people. Oliver had fun. He ate chips, a half of a cookie, and 2 whole apple slices! He was walking around, showing off his stuff. He even made 4 little friends! He loves kids so much, it is so darn cute.

No pictures taken today, but this picture was taken at the ballpark on Sunday. A cuddle picture!

Wednesday

Oliver had a good day. When we got home we all went for a bike ride to the park. Oliver went on the swings and down the slides with daddy. We went and looked at the river, it is really big right now from the snow melting in the mountains.

When we got home Oliver played, and of course he played with the vent. It is funny the things he likes to get into!

Laugh

Today Oliver came to my classroom at the end of the day. He loves looking in my students' desks. He had a lot of fun walking in the long hallways. He even got to meet his baby friend Nate. Oliver gave Nate a kiss, so cute. Oliver is so caring...

Tonite he took the heating vent off, so I felt down the hole for any toys he may be stashing there. I found tons, I started throwing them out, saying, "This doesn't belong there..or this one...or this one..." Oliver started to crack up laughing. I don't know if it was how I was saying it or how I was throwing the toys...but his laugh is the best!

I didn't take any pictures of Oliver today, so I just took one of him sleeping. He is so precious, I love his little round belly.

Teeth

Oliver has two little baby teeth on the bottom in the middle. He has his own tooth brush now. He always helps mommy and daddy brush their teeth, and when you say "Lets brush our teeth." He makes the brushing motion with his fist towards his mouth. Its very funny.

So now he gets to try with his own toothbrush. As you can see from the picture he had his own agenda tonite after he brushed his teeth. He walked off with it and put it in his secret compartment of his car, (the tv remote control was also in there!)
Can you tell which is Oliver's?

Off with his toothbrush...

Stashes it with the rest of his goodies.

Sunday

This morning Oliver and I woke up early and in a good mood! We took Ranger for an 8 mile run in the crisp morning air, before it got to warm. When we got home Mike was getting ready to mow the lawn. I set up some food on a little table for Oliver and I went about doing some chores, when I looked over he was not eating his little apples. I looked in the living room, and he had walked across the room to the window, he was staring out the window at Daddy mowing the lawn. He stayed there for a good 10 minutes. He loves his Daddy!

Around noon we arrived in Seattle for Oliver's 2nd baseball game ever. We watched the Mariners play the Padres! The Mariners won with an exciting 9th inning. Oliver had fun, but could not sit still!!! It was a beautiful day for a baseball game.

Our Drive up the 20

If you have not discovered already, Mike and I love to go for drives. One that we have done a few times, but always seem to discover something new is driving Highway 20 east towards Cascade National Park. We started out early this morning and made our way to the visitorscenter of the National Park. Oliver loved looking at all the exhibits.
Afterwards we took a hike to a viewpoint where the video was taken. Then we hiked to a rock shelter that was used by Native American's to smoke mountain goats that they had hunted. I hiked with Oliver in our Ergo carrier, because he has outgrown his baby bjorn. He loves this carrier too! It was very hot today in the 90s, so we were all wearing shorts, trying to get some much needed sun!

We went on a couple more short hikes, we saw a huge cedar tree and we brought Mr. Ranger along with us! (Its hard to get Ranger to pose for pictures!)

Today was an awesome day! In all we saw 9 deer, 1 coyote, and believe it or not 1 black bear!!!! That was the first bear sighting for me in Washington, wow! I was so excited that I didn't worry about capturing it with the camera, I wanted it to stick in my memory. (We saw it on a backroad in Marblemount, so don't worry we were in the Jeep!) And to top it off, on our way home we stopped at the best burger place in the world, Birdsview Burgers! Oliver loved the milkshakes!

Oliver Hiking

This is a cute video we took of Oliver hiking in the Cascades. I can't figure out how to rotate it, so please turn your head to the side or turn your laptop to the side. He loves walking!

HOT DAY

Today was hot. It was in the eighties. Whoa! It felt good! Oliver spent most of the day in a diaper. I can already visualize what the summer will be like. When mommy came home, they went shopping to get some shorts for baby, a quick survey of his clothes revealed no 12 month size shorts- we got some cute duds and then came home. We went for a walk to the Skagit River Park, Oliver chilling in the Ergo carrier that Mommy wears. We saw his little friend Cameron (Jill's Son) playing soccer! What a beautiful weekend for a soccer tournaments and kettle corn.

The picture today is of Oliver putting his toy in the garbage. He has realized he can actually drop things in there. It is very amusing to him. A little gross but I'm glad he is learning and having fun.

Ten cute things about Oliver Owen McCain:
1. He loves to eat everything- from pesto to avocado.
2. When he gets excited he puts his hands into tiny fists and does a little fun grunt.
3. He gives big open mouthed kisses on your chin.
4. If you ask for a hug, he will wrap his skinny little muscle arms around your neck, tightly, and hug you!
5. He loves dogs, and will say dog when he sees a dog.
6. He loves yellow school buses and kids.
7. He took his first steps at 9 months old. Anyday now, and he will be walking throughout the house.
8. He dances. He will do a torso dance sitting down, a whole body dance standing up, and sometimes just a head dance where it bobs from side to side. He loves music.
9. He doesn't like to have his diaper changed. He will play with the wipe warmer and take all the wipes out while you are cleaning his bum.
10. He has the cutest laugh I have ever heard. It makes my heart warm and fuzzy when I hear him laugh. I love it. We love this little guy so much! He has brought so much to our lives! It is so much fun watching him grow!

*I originally posted this on my myspace page, and this picture if from last October when he was about 3 1/2 months old.

Copy Cat Oliver

Oliver is enjoying copying sounds we make. Tonite Mikey was making a kind of throat gag noise and Oliver bursts out laughing and then mimics the sound. It is very funny. This picture is taken by Mikey at dinner time.

Today Oliver came to my class at the end of the day. My students were sitting in a circle on the rug. Oliver stood in the middle and showed off his walking skills, he also hugged a few students. He loves giving out hugs.

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Oliver had a good day. He played a lot and practiced his walking. He has been walking from room to room without falling on his bum. It is so amazing to see him walk towards something. He has been walking to Patches a lot. We have to be careful, because he loves to give her hugs. He sure loves animals!

His two little teeth are poking through at the bottom, he is having fun discovering what he can do with them. He also laughed a lot tonite. We would kiss and blow on his little neck and he was giggling so hard, we bet that his tummy muscles are going to be sore!
Todays picture is from our camping trip two weeks ago. It is in front of Northern Exposure's Radio Station. I love that tv show! We had fun walking around the town, and Mike had the best garlic burger at the "Dine-In" Drive In. Oliver was still a little sleepy in this picture.

Friends

Every day but Friday I drop Oliver off at Jill's house. She watches Oliver while Mommy teaches. Jill has two sons, Gabe and Cameron. They love Oliver, they are always playing with him and making up funny songs for him.
Madison and LuLu are also very lucky, they get to go to Jill's house too, when their Mommy and Daddy work. Lulu (in the dress) spends all day with Oliver, he gives her hugs all the time. (So cute!) Madison loves Oliver too, she always opens the door in the morning and is so excited to see little Oliver.
I took this picture after school today to show you how much fun they all have together. Oliver loves having friends. He loves all kids. He always tries to talk to kids anywhere we go!
He had a good day.

Sleeping Oliver

Here is a picture I just took for today. He had a really good day!

Looking Out

This picture was taken yesterday, but it is so cute! He was watching Daddy and Ranger play in the frontyard. And in the picture below he was on his tippy toes. Oh it just melt my heart.

It was my first Mama's Day with my little family. We had a really nice day. The boys took me for an early breakfast (Oliver hot his own egg and crayons! He ate both!) Then they took me for a hike in Anacortes in a community forest. The trails were beautiful. We saw a river otter and 2 yellow banana slugs! We had a lot of fun and got our feet pretty muddy!

The rest of the day we hung around the house, Oliver ran with Mommy (5 miles in the sunshine, finally) and then we all went for a Sunday drive on some backroads towards the town of Arlington. We had a great day. We forgot out camera on the hike, so we are sorry there are no cute Oliver in the forest pictures! But these pictures are pretty darn cute!

Saturday

Today Oliver helped Mommy clean the house. He had a lot of fun! He also played a lot with Daddy. After dinner we all rode our bikes to Cold Stone and got yummy ice cream. Oliver had a few bites! His runny nose is just about gone! He is finally falling asleep in my arms right now, zzzzzzzzzzz....
